Bio

Hi, thanks for your interest in my website! Please allow me to tell you more about myself.

I have had a lifelong interest in photography. I find it a fascinating balance between art and technology that is continually changing and evolving. My father taught me how to work in the darkroom which incidentally doubled as the kitchen. This was very unfortunate for my mother! Many happy evenings were spent in the “darkroom!”

After leaving school I went into a different print industry; that of magazine printing. Twenty years later I returned to college to pursue an official photography qualification in the form of an extended BTEC. This paved the way for me to go to university where I graduated from Birmingham City University with a BA(Hons) in Visual Communication – Photography.

I worked freelance for the past 5 years doing a variety of work. I’m as happy working with studio lighting as I am doing environmental portraits or product shots.

2016 was a pivotal year. I was asked to visit the Matsu islands in Taiwan to photograph the lives of the islanders. Taiwan is a wonderful country so I decided to move there permanently in 2017. I’m now based in the city of Kaohsiung.
